The Black Farmer Clothing Range
| I am a huge supporter of British industry, and wherever possible I will source my raw materials from the UK. To that end I have found a range of cloths for my jackets that come from mills in Scotland and Yorkshire. The tweed from these mills is second to none - beautiful colours, superbly comfortable to wear and durable. Attention to detail makes all the difference in making clothes that are elegant and practical. All my jackets feature 'surgeon's cuffs'. Each of the buttons can be undone and the whole cuff rolled up. Perfect if you have to get involved in a mucky job! The gentlemen's jackets feature security button and tab in the pockets; a pen or comb pocket; ticket pocket and stalk loop. I love good quality moleskin trousers. Interestingly the origins of fabrics known as moleskin are obscure; they are part of a group known as fustians. Most of the fabrics are produced in the East Lancashire and West Yorkshire districts of England. Fustian is itself is a general meaning in the early 19th century and was described as strong, hard wearing woven cloth made with a linen wrap and cotton weft. And gives the appearance of a smooth weft faced fabric, usually thick and strong, and mostly made of 100% cotton. |
